Overview
Research is the method by which magical and technological knowledge is gained. Research can be done alone or in groups. Magical research is significantly easier to do early on in the timeline of the world. As more and more magic is discovered research gets harder. Some experiments can only be conducted when there is a high amount of ambient mana still present in the world. Technological research includes things like crafting, construction, agriculture, architecture, combat in different terrain and climates, and various other things. Once a character understands something they can choose to record in in a book or attempt to use only person to person transfer. Nations which undertake a particular activity gain a passive bonus to their skills among their populations. Growing food in a certain climate for instance. They also gain natural boosts to living in their environment that are stored as part of their racial makeup.
